When you are in trouble or have a problem, you should be able to expect and are entitled to the assistance of a lawyer who:
- knows the law; and
- because there are grey areas, so that the law is not crystal clear on a particular point, is able to sufficiently communicate the many potential options available to you; and
- can make a cogent and intelligent recommendation of a course of action or solution that will best deal with your problem.
You, the client are entitled to the best available ADVICE and COUNSEL.
We disagree with those who may say that you are entitled to, and should expect, only “competent” advice. The so-called “business judgment rule” says that you, as a client, are entitled, not to the “five-carat diamond” or “Cadillac” of advice from your lawyer, but advice that a “competent” professional would render in any given circumstance is, in many cases, simply not enough. We believe that the client who pays for our advice should get the best.
A word on what we do in providing COUNSEL. Counsel and counseling refer to the art and science of working with you to develop plans for dealing with whatever problems you face, be it prevention or providing the means of resolution. As with anything else concerning your life and business, one must always have a plan. In other words, look before you leap.
Careful planning is the precursor of success. The development of the plan must be a collaborative effort. No one knows your particular problem or business better than you. Your input, is an absolute necessity for putting together a winning plan. A plan is the result of a learning process on the part of both counsel and client. As your attorneys, we need to understand what you want and require in your situation. You need to know what the law is, and what your options are. A plan developed by only one, be it us, as attorneys, or you, the client, will more often than not, fail. Both need to contribute in order for the plan to be viable.
We believe in FOCUSING ON YOU, THE CLIENT and how different approaches to your problem and potential solutions will affect you. Factors including feasibility, manpower availability, cost and your finances, are all given appropriate consideration in the decision-making process. The decision making process is, therefore, CLIENT-ORIENTED, and, thus, tailored to your needs.
